Everyone develops an identity (most of this work happens in adolescence), but this process can be more difficult for adoptees. Through their communication with their adoptive and birth families, adoptees develop an adoptive identity, or an understanding of what is means to be an adopted person. An adoptive identity helps individuals answer questions such as: Where did I come from? Who were my birthparents and what were the reasons they placed me with my adoptive parents? Do I have biological siblings? What parts of me are like my birth family? Who would I have been if I weren’t adopted? The process of answering these questions and forming an adoptive identity takes some effort, and it can be challenging for some adoptees. Many individuals feel a sense of loss over a birth parent they have not met, which can lead to grief and confusion. They also may experience uncertainty about issues such as what being adopted means for their identity, what their birth parents are like, and how their adoptive parents feel about their adoption. Adopted individuals also may experience differences from their adoptive family-including, but not limited to, differing ethnic and cultural orientations, personalities, appearances, and physical abilities.
Angry about something an 18-year-old girl did 16 years before. As Mark asked, if she had told him then, would he have married her? The hypocrisy of him being angry because he was not her first is insane since it is very likely she was not his first. That he would be willing to throw away all those years of marriage and tearing apart their family shows what a small person he was being. What the wife did, by not telling him what she did as a scared and helpless girl, was not right but certainly his reaction was certainly not right in anyone's world - he is an adult man, not a scared girl who cannot take care of herself or a baby.
Nobody said she was content, that woman spent her life afraid the truth would come out before she got the courage to tell her family . .. Lies and secrets almost cost her everything..
Shannen Doherty still Battling Stage 4 Cancer. Also played on Little House on the Prairie as Maggie Malene & Brenda Walsh on 90210 and again as Prue Halliwell in Charmed. Anybody else notice the flames in the Fords grill ?????????????????
I thought Shannon Doherty played Almanzo Wilder's (Dean Butler) niece Jenny on the last season of Little House on the Prairie ( Little House: A New Beginning). Her father, Almanzo's brother Royal came to visit Almanzo and Laura because he wanted to get Jenny used to Almanzo and Laura as potential parents because he was dying of heart failure and was a widower.
I don't understand what Jonathan did that was so wrong. I despise bullies! Maybe it was the way he went about it. That boy deserved NOT to be bullied and to have the food he paid for. I think that is why God gave Jonathan "the stuff" while he was defending the boy. Maybe God didn't like that Jonathan saying He was wrong. MY point is that there is nothing wrong with defending someone to a few punk-like figures. If they want food, they should pay for it themselves! I guess God (the Boss) didn't like "the stuff" being used to badly hurt another human being. Nobody should be bullied, but he was sent "upstairs" to be judged for it. Hey? Isn't it a coincidence that Jonathan remained an angel? It makes you wonder if his time of judgement was nothing more than a formality. Because I've been bullied in my life, that is why I find it hard to believe that Jonathan came to the rescue to a boy being bullied. In MY heart, Jonathan had every right to defend that bullied kid. Bullies need to be weeded out in this world! If you had NEVER been bullied, I would never expect you to understand. Still, other than the way he handled it, Jonathan did NOTHING wrong! I'm sure God wanted Barry to turn "the other cheek," but there is so much another human being can take. Defending that boy, Jonathan was ALWAYS in the "right."
I was mad when I saw what those bullies were doing. I was wishing I was Jonathan and visualizing how I would have done much worse if I had the power and it was me. I know it's not real, but I'm sure that's the first time those bullies were ever whipped.
(After Jonathan gets beat up by a street gang) Mark -"How was I to know u wouldn't be able to zap them?" "Your an angel, I thought u were gonna stick them all to the ceiling." Jonathan- "If he wanted that he woulda sent Joe Louis down here on the assignment." "I tried to tell u that." Mark- "Yeah But I thought that was because u were against violence." "How come u didn't have the stuff?" Jonathan- "Because when I do something he (God) doesnt want me to do, he doesn't give me the stuff!" From the episode "Return of the Masked Rider" season 1 episode 4. Here, he does what God doesn't want him to do and he has the stuff. 5:21 Im confused. The writing contradicts itself. I guess Landon kinda changed the rules a little to please himself and the viewers.
I can't believe how selfishly motivated the adoptive mother was in regards to the daughter finding her birth mother. I never understood the big secret or shame about adoption. That mother did all kinds of weird shit around it.
Jonathan used his "stuff" to right wrongs before, but this was the first time he went Chuck Norris on someone in so brutal fashion, and in direct opposition to the Boss' command. I think this could have been explained a little better, but maybe the writer just wanted to give Mark a chance to solve a problem on his own. It didn't work out that well, though, since in the end Jonathon had to slip in to give Jonathon the key to bringing the family back together.
Is it me, or are the tables in the bar scene at 28 minutes 22 seconds looking like the people our dining in a bar during today's pandemic. Everyone in this bar scene is at least six feet apart,,.
I do find it hard to understand why Wes did not see anything wrong with pretending he and his wife were already married when their first child was born so she wouldn't know she was an illegitimate child but thought differently when his wife kept from him she was the girl's birth mother. she really was the girl's mother. He could lie but his wife couldn't. At least on Highway to Heaven, such things come out all right in the end. It sure was strange seeing Mark driving his old car without Jonathan inside but I did feel his boss over-reacted.
A young Shannon Doherty, who go onto do Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed. Highway to heaven and Touched by an Angel which is also good. They shows I afraid to people I like.
@@juneberry1982 He says it in the episode entitled, "A Song For Jason", Season 2, Ep. 2, Part 2 @ 40:02. He's trying to convince a dad whose son has cancer to visit him at camp for kids with cancer.
Looked for the hot damn scene for years
I don't understand what Jonathan did that was so wrong.
I couldn't agree more. Great points.
I thought the same thing. If God really didn't like it he could have cut Jonathan off and his stuff wouldn't have worked.
But....it didn't really happen-

And the father didn't?
He was the most selfish and no the mother wasn't selfish she was a scared teenager
Loved it Thank You
for not being related, those 2 girls look quite a bit alike
What kind of an Angel tells God he thinks God id wrong and then fights with people WOW LOL
I don't think he was talking to god I think he was talking to his supervisor that would later be played by Bob Hope ..
My Jonathan does!!!
Is it me, or are the tables in the bar scene at 28 minutes 22 seconds looking like the people our dining in a bar during today's pandemic. Everyone in this bar scene is at least six feet apart,,.
Its a so the place looks like a full bar when its just a sound stage
As Mark is leaving the store after asking directions, the boom mic is clearly visible at the bottom of the screen.
Shannen Doherty in early days.
Oh, yes they are the best,
Jon, we get mad and angry and sin but, God is always right.
I think its best to tell your child they are adopted as soon as they are old enough to understand the meaning of the word adopted
A very young Shannon Doherty plays the second daughter
yes Shannon doherty was awesome in Charmed,
Nice story
The oldest daughter looks like Lisa Marie Presley and the youngest looks like Shannen Doherty .
The youngest is Shannen D
I do find it hard to understand why Wes did not see anything wrong with pretending he and his wife were already married when their first child was born so she wouldn't know she was an illegitimate child but thought differently when his wife kept from him she was the girl's birth mother. she really was the girl's mother. He could lie but his wife couldn't. At least on Highway to Heaven, such things come out all right in the end. It sure was strange seeing Mark driving his old car without Jonathan inside but I did feel his boss over-reacted.
That laugh at the end 😂
“JESUS LOVES YOU♥️“
38:47 solves the abortion problem.
Great show! Watch it almost everyday. :D
Why wasn't she just as curious about who her real father was?
Benden Den Hansen
interesting point.
Plot holes were like swiss cheese in this show

Just started this but maybe she was unfortunately, so may lie.

Nice to see Mark was the angel this time where he turned the other cheek and helped his friend while Jonathan fell from grace!
We've all got a lot of growing up to do.
A young Shannon Doherty, who go onto do Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed.
Highway to heaven and Touched by an Angel which is also good. They shows I afraid to people I like.
Did I hear the word (damn) interjected into this episode at 17:55 or is that just my imagination?
I have now listened to this section several times, and I did not hear that word, no.
Of all the ways in which I could spend a Saturday night at home..

It's ok. I do that too. I'm not into the nightlife of the city. If I want to watch a good fight I'll just watch this show
🤣
I heard it after I went back. The mom said it under her breath. Actually they use that word a lot in this show. Even Johnathan says it. :/
@@juneberry1982 He says it in the episode entitled, "A Song For Jason", Season 2, Ep. 2, Part 2 @ 40:02. He's trying to convince a dad whose son has cancer to visit him at camp for kids with cancer. Jonathan gets angry with the father and tells him his son wants to die, that '...he doesn't give a damn...'. Yes, Michael Landon's angel swears.
